Their Session: Palisades Interstate Park in Alpine, NJ

Engagement Session

Jason and I met up with Tiffany and Brian at a spot that we scouted out a few times. There were cliffs overlooking the Hudson River, greenery, long winding roads, and just beautiful views. These two were so freakin’ sweet and they really nailed their session! I can’t wait to share some of my favorite photos from their shoot, their engagement session video, and what Jason shared about his experience, but first, more about their love story!

How They Met

Brian shared that they met “this one time at band camp” (iykyk) for their high school marching band. They both thought the other was crazy. Tiffany told Brian there was a tiger in the woods at their NJ high school. She shared that they were both in the pit/drumline where her older sister was the section leader. Brian might’ve asked her sister about Tiffany and how she puts up with her!

They got to know one other by spending time together in band class. Brian shared that going to band camp brought them on a lot of adventures. Over the years, they joked and teased each other. Tiffany realized that Brian was a simple-minded, practical, and genuine person. He seems to get surprised when anyone pays him a compliment or gives him attention. She didn’t witness this from other typical high school boys with high egos.

The Proposal

Tiffany and Brian shared their engagement story with us. Here’s what they said! “We did talk about marriage for a couple years, but Tiffany wanted to stabilize her career first. After she graduated from graduate school and started her job as a NP, we started talking about this more seriously. We did go ring shopping together and Tiffany described the ring that she envisioned - however, she didn't see the final product! Brian then planned a hiking trip to upstate NY- including a cabin in the woods with scenic view right out the window! He planned a hike to Sam's Point at Minnewaska State Park (hiking is one of our favorite activities together). Because Tiffany is very intuitive and figures out all of Brian's surprises - she expected that the proposal would occur that weekend. Tiffany also hates any type of attention, so Brian had to pick the perfect secluded area near the peak, where there were no other hikers around. Brian set up a tripod with his phone attached to it to take action shots of the proposal. Conveniently, the wind blew and the tripod tipped over and Brian's phone screen cracked on the rocks - but, we reenacted the proposal for picture purposes!!! (Lucky Brian for having to get on one knee TWICE!)” I love a private proposal! Jason and I had one and it’s such a special moment for two people to share together. 🥺

Their Love

Brian loves how caring and selfless Tiffany is. He said that she always pushed him to take on challenges and be the best version of himself. Sharing that she wasn’t like the other girls, he said that she wasn’t materialistic, a high maintenance “cool girl,” and was actually a bit weird. He found her interesting! Brian mentioned that Tiffany puts the needs of others before her own, and has no issue helping anyone who asks for it.

Tiffany loves Brian’s honestly. She did share that he’s not always honest about giving his opinion on her clothing or outfit choices! Brian often reminds Tiffany that it’s okay to make time in her schedule to do things that she enjoys. Like many of us, she can find herself wrapped up in her profession (she's a pediatric nurse practitioner!). But she said that Brian will always join her on an adventure! She recalls a time in the begining of their relationship when she was quietly humming along to a song when they were in the car together that was playing on the radio. Brian encouraged her to sing out loud because, “no one is judging!” Since then, they find themselves jamming out together to songs in the car, even with Brian sometimes requesting Tiffany to be quiet once in a while!

Tiffany and Brian are super adventurous. They enjoy activities like rock climbing, hiking, snowmobiling, biking, gardening, and the outdoors. They also enjoy trips to Costco together, going to see the NJ Devils play hockey, and cooking. Their idea of a perfect weekend together would be hanging outside or going hiking, perhaps attending a hockey game, going to church, getting brunch, hanging outside on the deck, relaxing by their fire pit, visiting sand bars by the Barnegat Light House, or catching up on their week together at a coffee shop or Hapgoods, a restaurant in Mountain Lakes, NJ.

After booking with Tiffany and Brian, we learned that we shared a similar faith. Tiffany had the reference to my favorite Bible verses in her profile (what are the chances?!) Matthew 6:25-34, which reads, “ “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” This has always been such a good verse to refer to when feeling worried, stressed, overwhelmed, and insignificant. My favorite part is about the birds. When I see birds, I get so happy since they are these cute little things that God provides for and it reminds me of this verse!

When it comes to faith, here’s what Brian had to share, “I believe in God & Jesus, the only one who can judge us is God, be kind to others, be forgiving, don't be wasteful, and enjoy life.” Tiffany shared, “Family is always first priority. Life is too short, so always take time to enjoy the little moments and people around you. You can't please everyone - people cannot give you the validation you seek, your self-worth has to come from the inside. Your health is the most valuable asset. Embrace things that make you uncomfortable - step out of your comfort zone. Cast your worries on God because He cares for you.”

I love that we get to meet with many different types of people in the industry. We form connections with a multitude of people over many aspects of life. It’s nice to be able to share our beliefs in that way together with a couple that we get the opportunity to work with as well!

Tiffany & Brian

Tiffany and Brian, thank you for trusting us to pick your location spot and all of our prompts for posing! We loved spending time with you and feel so special that we get to share so much in common, including our faith. We can't wait for your wedding day and can already envision all the emotion!

Upon sharing the engagement session photographs and highlight video with Tiffany and Brian, they said such kind things that I'm honored to share.

Upon receiving the photos; "These photos came out SO beautiful! The location you & Jason picked for us was so perfect for what we were looking for. A little mountain, a little water, and an amazing view. I especially love how natural the photos look - which is all thanks to both your instructions/guidance/modeling.

I shared the album with my sister already and her feedback described exactly the style I was looking for. She replied: “You guys had a really good time doing this lol it looked like you just laughed the entire time!!!”. This exactly the feeling I want to remember when we look back on our engagement photos years down the road.

Thank you, Jessah & Jason, for all your hard work in capturing these moments and for all the laughs along the way! We can’t wait to share these photos with our family and friends. ❤️"

Upon receiving the video; "Thank you SOO much for our engagement and BTS (behind the scenes) video!!! We loved watching every second of it. We will forever treasure these beautiful moments that Jason captured and put together for us. You are both incredibly talented and creative. You guys nailed it, again!!!

Looking forward to next year - stay well!!!"

Check out what Jason shared about out time with Tiffany and Brian and their engagement session video!

Tiffany and Brian were such a fun couple. Jessah and I had scouted out this place previously, and we were so excited to shoot here. If you are interested in visiting this place yourself:

It just so happened, that on our shoot together with Tiffany and Brian, we had a beautiful overcast day. We were overlooking the Hudson, and I've learned some of the best shooting is near water during overcast days.

Tiffany and Brian were so fun to spend time with. They did an awesome job with the prompts we gave them. They were crushing it, and would love to shoot with them again some day. God willing we will at their wedding! Love was there, was it perfect? You'll just have to watch the video and you...have to choose.
